Former Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic will battle British lefty Cameron Norrie in the first round of the 2024 Queen’s Club Championships. The match is scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2024. Here’s our Milos Raonic vs Cameron Norrie prediction.
Milos Raonic vs Cameron Norrie Preview
This will be Milos Raonic’s sixth appearance at London’s Queen’s Club and his first since 2019. Raonic is a former runner-up at the event, doing so in 2016 when he lost to Andy Murray. It was the same season he would headline his one and only Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, and again falling short to his nemesis Murray in the final. The Canadian has spent the last few years of his career nursing a spate of injuries but has always created time to play at the grass-court swing. This year, it’s no different, with Raonic making his long-awaited return from the treatment table to play in Den Bosch this past week (he lost to eventual champion Alex de Minaur).
Cameron Norrie suffered the ignominy of losing to a player ranked outside the world’s Top 700 at the Nottingham Challenger. The three-set defeat to countryman Jack Pinnington Jones will have an immediate impact on the rankings as Norrie will lose his spot as the top-ranked British male player. Jack Draper will officially take that mantle on Monday after winning in Stuttgart.
Milos Raonic vs Cameron Norrie Head-To-Head
• Raonic leads Norrie 2-0 in their head-to-head.
• Both matches took place on indoor hard courts, none later than 2020.
Milos Raonic vs Cameron Norrie Prediction
Raonic has not played a lot of tennis this year, but surprisingly, he is still very competitive in the few matches he’s played. They always say form is temporary, but class is permanent, which explains the Canadian’s star quality. Norrie, on the other hand, has fared dismally this year and could exit the top 50 in the coming weeks if his form doesn’t dramatically pick up. Raonic may have lost a lot through injuries in the last couple of years, including his pace, but if there is still one thing that he has retained, it is his humongous serve. He’s also adjusted to play efficiently through his rough patch with injuries, and I think the 33-year-old is rightly priced as the big favorite.
