With those words and a photo of Magnus Sheffield riding a tricycle as a toddler, the 22-year-old Pittsford man announced on Instagram that he’s representing the USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Sheffield is a 2020 graduate of the Harley School, a prestigious private school in Brighton.

When does Magnus Sheffield begin riding at the Olympics?
Road cycling time trials begin at 10:32 a.m. Saturday, July 27. Sheffield is also riding in the men’s road race at 5 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 3.

Magnus Sheffield’s first love was ski racing
Sean Lahman, in a 2022 profile of Sheffield, said his meteoric rise began with ski racing in eighth grade. Cycling was a way to cross-train for skiing. Then started racing competitively in 2014 and two years later won his age group at the 2016 USA Cycling National Cyclo-Cross Championship in North Carolina.
With his success in cycling, Sheffield put his ski racing dreams on hold.
How good is Magnus Sheffield?
Sheffield is one of the top American cyclists on the World Tour. His breakout year was 2022, taking three wins in his first year as a pro, including a one-day victory at De Brabantse Pijl in Belgium.
He’s considered a good all-around cyclist with a remarkable talent for time trials.
What are road cycling course like at the Paris Olympics?
Cycling fans will be treated to some of the finest sights Paris has to offer. The road races start and finish near the Trocadéro, while the time trials reach their climax at the Pont Alexandre III, one of Paris’ most beautiful bridges. The road course is considered challenging while time trails is over a flat route that favors powerful riders, according to Matt Nelsen.
Where does Magnus Sheffield live?
Sheffield currently bases himself in Andorra, a tiny independent principality in the Pyrenees mountains of Europe.
