Joe Shannon from Kilmore Lower in Newtownforbes, a 13-year-old second year student in St Mel’s College, is making tremendous progress at the sport of snooker and he has been selected to compete in the World Tour’s Shoot Out Tournament in December.
Son of Damien and Vivienne Shannon, the rising star will become the youngest ever Irish player to compete in a tour event when he takes part in the quickfire tournament from 4-7 December in Leicester.
All matches are played over a maximum of ten minutes, and a shot clock of 15 seconds for the first five minutes and ten seconds for the last five.
Shannon is the current Irish Under-14 and Under-16 champion and is being coached by former snooker professional Fergal O’Brien.
