Former champion Grigor Dimitrov will face last year’s quarterfinalist Adrian Mannarino in the first round of the 2024 Queen’s Club Championships. The match is scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2024. Here’s our Grigor Dimitrov vs Adrian Mannarino prediction.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Adrian Mannarino Preview
Grigor Dimitrov has a strong affinity for grass courts. His game is suited to the surface, and his track record proves that. He won the title at Queen’s Club in 2014, the same year he made the Wimbledon seminal and lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. But despite making unsuccessful trips to West Kensington in recent years, Dimitrov has still stayed productive, reaching a semifinal in 2017 and a quarterfinal last year, losing to Carlos Alcaraz. Dimitrov will play his first match since losing to Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinal of the French Open.
Like Dimitrov, Adrian Mannarino is also a formidable grass-court challenger, having won two ATP titles on the surface in the past. His ability to hit flat groundstrokes and use a slice and kick serves makes Mannarino a nightmare to play against on the lawns. That said, the Frenchman did not have a great start to his grass-court campaign, losing to Gijs Brouwer of the Netherlands at the Libema Open this past week.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Adrian Mannarino Head-To-Head
• Dimitrov leads Mannarino 5-0 in their head-to-head.
• In those five meetings, Mannarno has won only two sets.
• They last played each other at the 2024 Indian Wells Masters in March.
• This first-round match at Queen’s will be their first bout on grass.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Adrian Mannarino Prediction
It’s a match between two grasscourt tacticians. Mannarino can be unpredictable when his game is firing on all cylinders with a serve full of bite and penetration. His ability to use flat shots works to a tee on the lawns. But Dimitrov is definitely the better and more well-rounded athlete than Mannarino in every department. The head-to-head proves that. The rankings, too. Expect the Bulgarian to get the job done here in two routine sets.
